Root Skyraider 3.0 RC3 feedback

Battery life - Mediocre, not bad but not great either
Screen unresponsive after waking the phone -Once or twice a day.
Loss of 3G - Yes
Occasional lagginess - None, other than the 1-2 times a day on wake
Facebook pictures not showing up - All mine show up fine
Gps - Working fine here
Camcorder -Also working fine
Physical search button not working - Known Issue in RC2 fixed in RC3
Stock VVM not working - What specifically is not working?

Im not sure what specifically isnt working with the VVM, it was posted a few posts up. So it seems 3.0 is still a lot further to a final build than I thought. The screenshots look gorgeous tho, I really dig what ihtfp69 (I hate the fuc*ing police 69?) did with rosie. Looks super sleek.

Looks like 3.0 Vanilla RC1 is supposed to be released [whats left of] tonight or tomorrow. Wonder if the same bugs will be there. Im gonna test em both out when vanilla gets here and Ill let ya guys know. How would you guys feel about this thread maybe being a skyraider review thread, with general information/known bugs kind of thing?

That sounds great but the problem is you gotta get the OP to do it and I am pretty sure he is not the friendly type....

I installed this ROM 3 times. The first time I downloaded from ROM Manager and it installed but the Location Service wouldn't connect. Uninstalled and tried the 4th ROM with the same results. Unistalled and went back to RC2 which worked good. Downloaded the ROM to computer and tried it again and had the same issue. Decided yesterday to give it one more shot and viola, everything worked fine.

Only issue I have had is once when I opened from the lock screen there were no icons on any of the homepage screens. Re-Booted and all was good. I still have Market issues at times. When updating an app it will download but hang on install. I have to clisk cancel sownload and hit install again and the app will install. I did clear the Market cache but no change.

Battery life seems very good compared to any other ROM I have tried. RC2 had great battery life for me as well. I do now have the longer charge times that many have mentioned in the past where I had never had that issue with any other ROM.

BTW, anyone know what app or widget makes the battery level show in text on the homescreen like it is shown on the screenshots? I would really like that. With my vision it is hard for me to read the little icon at the top.
 
Battery life -- It has been pretty good for me. Monday I was overclocked to 1113 and got 14 hours of up time with almost 4 hours of awake time and had 63% left on the "1750" battery.
Screen unresponsive after waking the phone -- Never had a problem with this.
Loss of 3G -- Happened just once. Seen it happen to people using different ROMs. Wonder if it's a network issue.
Occasional lagginess -- The only problems I've had with slowdown are caused by Rdio going goofy.
Facebook pictures not showing up -- All mine show up, both on the favorites widget and in the messages app. Not all of them update as they should but I've that problem since I first got the phone.
Gps -- No problems here. Used it for an hour yesterday.
Camcorder -- 720P works fine in the only test I did.
Physical search button not working -- Works fine for me.
Stock VVM not working -- Never used it, can't help you there.
 
Battery life ---- Not a problem here, while I've used other roms that got slightly better life this one performs better

Loss of 3G----- I've had this problem with every ROM RC2, RC3, Vanilla 2.5.2 , SM6 and a couple others. I think it's a 2.15 radio issues cause it seemed to come about when I installed it. Could be wrong but this is what my phone is expierencing
Occasional lagginess------ Haven't really noticed any lag, it's not as fast as CM6 which is what I came from but still one of the faster ROMS I've used
Facebook pictures not showing up ----- Facebook Pictures are working fine for me
Gps-------- GPS Works fine, but turn by turn is a little slow to start, I've noticed this with most the ROMS I've runed the only one that loaded turn by turn perfectly was CM6
Camcorder ------ Works for me
Physical search button not working----- Yep doesn't work, kinda good for me because I accidently hit it, but kind of annoying when I do want to use it and it doesn't work
Stock VVM not working ----- Dont use VVM I use Google Voice and it's working

I can say that MMS is very slow for me. Picture messages are taking 30-60seconds to send, which is really my only problem with this ROM but I've had the same problem heck some ROMS my MMS wont' work at all. I tried stock and Handcent with same results


Probably should have saide I'm actually using RC2

 
Yes, Jim, RC2 is way different. He even flashed a new kernal in RC3, KK#1
Battery life: Pretty awful
Unresponsive: Not me, only takes a double swipe to get out of lock
No loss of 3G
No lagginess
Facebook pics work fine
GPS perfect
Camcorder.. what's that?
Physical search... what's that?
VVM... what's that?

Now, more importantly imo, is the new version of Vanilla in Rom Manager. It's broken as of now, don't install it. Loads great, looks totally awesome, reboot the phone and you're stuck in a loop that only a nandroid restore will correct. Battery pull needed too. Over on XDA now waiting for ihtfp69 to respond. (I Have To Fly Planes) FYI. :-)
 
I've been waiting for his Vanilla 3.0 to be release , I'll be waiting for a stable one thou. This is working pretty well right now.

I'll let you know as soon as I find out something. The Vanilla looks great, though. I'm even thinking of going back to 2.5.2 Vanilla. I forgot how much I liked it. I'm wondering if this version is a hack since there has been no word from the OP over there.
 
Yeah, pretty sure he said he was going to start a new thread for the vanilla release. Seems kind of odd that it would show up in Rom Manager without that thread.
 
Lots of action going on. The thread was in the old 2.5.2 Vanilla section. Boot loops caused by a2sd, not a hack just this one bug. I got yelled at for "putting out false info" by some jackass who didn't have a ****ing clue. Oh well, at least it's not my wife.
 
Ok, Skyraider seems to have battery issues, even the Vanilla 3.0. Any vanilla roms out there you recommend? I might just flash the old 2.5.2 which seemed quite stable.
 
I haven't found one solid vanilla rom yet, I really enjoyed JagerROM , I actually can't remember why I ditched it. I might have to go back to it. Over all in all honesty the only ROM I've used that was pretty much perfect was Adrenylens Wave ROM , I think it was 2nd or 3rd I used . The Wave ROM just aren't as fun haha

CM6 was so close but it killed my battery and had some other bugs I can't deal with mainly Audio BT I use that just too much it's one of my favorite things about my phone
 
i'm using 3.0 RC3, having just switched from stock 2.2. i've noticed a pretty serious drop in battery life. on the 1750 battery, i'm having trouble getting through a 12 hour day of work with moderate usage.

not sure what to do about it just yet. i've noticed that the 'awake time' on the battery is much higher on RC3 than on stock 2.2. Something is waking up the phone more often, that's for sure...just not positive what is doing it.
 
I've been having great battery life on SR 3.0. I'm actually now on 3.1 RC3 running the KingKlick #4 kernel and it goes a day and a half on the HTC 1500mAh battery (which is pretty much the same as the seidio 1750 battery).
 
I am not running SR now to check but it seems like when I tried it he had stocks and weather syncing every 5 minutes in the Accounts and Sync settings. Check those...

Same here. I finally settled on this ROM. I really liked the SR Vanilla but little things always led me back to a Sense ROM so this is the one I pick. After a reset of battery stats with any ROM change I get good battery life. I don't get a day and a half but I can use the phone pretty heavy and easily get through a 12 hour work day which is my goal. I normally have 30%+ battery life left when I get home. At home on WIFI I can get a day and a half battery life but I don't use it all that much at home.

I think he changed that in the latest release. Nonetheless, he just posted that the final 3.0 will be released soon. (whatever that actually means) But knowing his work, perhaps by Wednesday. I'm going to try Vanilla first and d/l Sense and perhaps try that one out too. And keeping my fingers crossed for XTR 4.5 Sense for the DI too, but that's another story for another thread.
 
Sweet. Probably go back to his Vanilla ROM once the update/final hits. I'm playing around with Uncommon Sense at the moment.
