Slcd - amoled

If I get a Desire with SLCD instead of AMOLED- does this mean the screen has a true 800x400 resolution instead of what has happened with the Pentile screens?


I know, I know, its not really noticeable- but wouldn't hurt to ask right lol
 
They are/were but Samsung who provide HTC with the screens couldn't keep up with demand. Since the AMOLED is on a few other phones as well and they're all selling out.

So HTC have said SLCD screens will be on a new version of the Desire soon. I don't believe they are stopping AMOLED, just using SLCD as a replacement when needed.
 
So can anyone tell me if this new screen will be an (all round improvement) of the AMOLED screen?
