Sleep mode?

hi, i just bought my HTC desire today and I need some friendly help on some things I am trying to understand on..

concering sleep mode, for other phones, you can LOCK or make the phone sleep mode by pressing two buttons of something to make the phone go to sleep or lock mode.. is there such a way for the HTC desire..

also.. is there somewhere i can go in settings to set the time it will take for my phone to auto sleep mode?

Just press the power once on top of the phone to turn the screen off and lock it.

To set the screen timeout time click Menu > Settings > Sound & Display > Screen timeout and then set the time you want.
