Help Slider missing after sbf flash+reboot

Using RSD.lite v4.5.3, I flashed the 2.1 UK (normal, not service) sbf from
sbf:milestone [And Developers]

After flash and it auto-reboots for first time, screen slider is there and can slide/unlock and go to home screen and access phone etc. However, after I reboot phone, screen slider is missing, all I see is standby screen and as far as I know there is no way to unlock via hardware keys or buttons(without installing app).

It seems to me that the sbf from that site is corrupt? Is there a better source of sbf files for droid?

I managed to fix it with the screen mode widget app, which removes the standby screen automatically when power button is pressed.... also funnily enough, it also seems to have returned the missing slider after reboot anyway. So it is really doing it's job well.... however I feel uncomfortable leaving the life of my droid in this single app.

Any thoughts are appreciated

Ok. So I ended up doing a factory reset and the slider is fine without need for any app. I rooted it (flash vunerable recovery, copy root update to zip, recovery mode update from sd, done) succesfully and have the super white list app. To test rooting I used android terminal emulator, didnt get the error after "SU" so I assume root is verified.

Now I should be able to nandroid backup, but in recovery mode there is no nandroid option, just reboot, appply sd update, wipe data and wipe cache.

How can I get nandroid backup option?

... You need Open Recovery for that. I'm on my Milestone now so I can't give you any links but just Google Open Recovery and you'll find it. Also take a look at the G.O.T Open Recovery as well.
