Slight screen wobble

My shift is about a week old, and I've noticed a very slight wobble. The right side of the screen (when held horizontal) seems looser than the left. Its barely perceptible, but I'm worried that maybe it's a fault with my phone that will get worse.

If it's normal and probably won't get any worse, I can live with it. Has anyone else noticed an issue or is this just a normal thing with sliders in general?

while i liked the spring assisted open and close on my Moment, i think this slider is wayyy less wobbly. i dont really notice a wobble opening or closing... ut that could be that we hold the phone 2 different ways...

Yeah my screen has became way loose on mine, to the point in where i close it, the screen closes further then it should so when shut the top of the phone while horizontally the bottom protrudes further then the top so it looks like the top shuts to much... time to take it back and get a new one...

I didn't notice any wobbling, but I did notice a lot of movement when I would text or slide my finger navigating from screen to screen. Since I bought my phone case, the movement is virtually all gone and the phone feels very solid and secure in my hands. I hardly ever use the keyboard so the fact that it no longer moves is a big plus for me. The case I use is the Seidio Surface case. I posted some pics and a small review in the Accessories thread.

Hmmmm. I thought I wouldnt use the keyboard much, but I've ended up loving it.

I'm going to watch the wobble for a bit and see if it gets worse. I do think I'm a bit over sensitive to it because I've never had a slider. That being said, my wife's intercept is more solid still, and its a few months old.

Is it a pain to exchange a phone with Sprint? If it does get more noticeable, I'll definitely exchange before rooting it. I wore the buttons off my Hero and the usb connection became loose... but I didnt want to go through the trouble of returning it to sprint's rom...

That is, assuming root happens anytime soon...

If your still under the 30 day period it should be a breeze, however i buy all my phone at retail price which makes it easier because it has nothing to due with my contract when returning the phone. Under the 30 days take it back as a regular return, get your money back and then buy a new one asap. this way you get a new one and another 30 days just in case something else goes wrong... thats what i due but i buy mine retail...

I think I am in the same boat. The top half of the device is fine, the bottom has too much play. I might give the seidio case a shot...or maybe see if there's a DIY option with a T-6 driver ;)

Went to Best Buy today, returned the Evo shift. got the money put back on my card, then turned around and bought another. This one feels tight, and i have a good feeling about it, but if it doesn't stay positive i have another 30 days to return it or exchange it.

I'm also returning mine. I got mine from Amazon Wireless -- and it was really painless to setup the return. I spoke to them, told them the issue and that I'd looked into it at Best Buy and on the Forums - and they agreed it did sound like a hardware issue. They sent me a replacement with one day shipping and I will return mine with a printed shipping label, within 30 days.

I'm curious to see this new one, and if I'm just over sensitive with the sliding mechanism...

Sweet. The first shift i had such a solid sliding mechanism it felt so tight. the other two haven't felt the same. they are both tight but not as tight as the first. Its weird the first was bought from Sprint Corporate, while the others were from Best Buy.

this is one issue i am worried about, i used to have the pocket pc 6700 and that slide screen got really bad...one solution though is to not use it :D

Time will tell. HTC's built a few different slider designs, I'm hoping they went to this one for reliability reasons.

I used a slider for two years on a feature phone and never had a lick of trouble - it can be done.

Yeah i am definitely happy that they went with the sliding mech. compared to the g2's. i really don't like how if it is up side down it pops open. i am happy with htc on this choice.

I never had a problem with my 8125 or my Tilt, bothof which were HTC sliders. I use my keyboard fairly often and the screen on my Shift still feels really solid.

My screen wobble is really starting to bug me. Did anyone end up with a Shift that didn't have this wobble? I am going to the store to check out other Shifts

No click that've heard or felt - it's just kinda _there_ when it's closed. Sorta like - what? - that little extra pressure required to fully close or to start the opening.

My new Shift does not wobble at all, and the sliding mechanism feels much tighter. The first one I had wasn't that bad, but since I was still within 30 days, I figured I'd try a different one. I'm not even sure if the one I had would be considered "defective."

But I do love the new one. And I use the physical keyboard all the time.

Did you tell them a reason why? Did you just say you wanted a new phone? I am going to go to a different store then I went to yesterday. What did you say to the people?
