I got a hard rubber case from HTCpedia.com for $12. They also have a soft version. Doesn't increase the thickness much because it doesn't cover the bulge caused by the thicker battery. This way it also works for the original battery.
It depends on how much protection you want. I use the Seidio Surface for the extended battery. I've used the Innocase with the clip holster for almost 3 years and the Surface is the same case for the extended battery. It has a built in kickstand that supports the TBolt from either side so I use it and still have the charger plugged in. It doesn't slide on from the top and bottom like the original, but instead just snaps over the phone so that the back, sides and corners are covered, but the top and bottom are left open. I can't tell that the speaker behind the kickstand is muted by this arrangement, but I'm an older guy and my hearing isn't that great any more. It isn't designed to protect like an Otterbox, just to be slim and keep it from getting scratched up, plus there isn't an Otterbox for the extended battery.
