Sling Box owners rejoice!

Is everyone who has the Pro HD getting the entire widescreen on HD channels to take up the entire screen of the phone? I'm unable to get this with this Dish VIP922 and wondering if it's related to the receiver and it possibly not being an HD version like the Pro HD; instead being a Solo version built into the receiver.

Heads up to all who have the Dish VIP922, I figured out the problem above. If your TV is ON when you attempt to use the phone app, the TV has priority of the HD signal on the receiver. You will then only get an SD signal streamed to the phone. As long as the TV is off and nothing is else is controlling the receiver, then it will send the HD signal to your phone. On the phone app, you do need to check the aspect ratio to widescreen.

I have dishnetwork with VIP722K receiver. I am able to access my receiver just via a web browser but when I try and connect via the slink box app it says there are no slingboxes in your account. Do I actually need a sling box to use the app?

TIA

The VIP922 is the only receiver that has Slingbox built in. You'll need to purchase either the Slingbox Solo or Pro HD box to hook up to the 722. I'd go ahead and get the Pro HD in order to get a better picture quality and size on your phone, but that's just me.

You are just accessing the 722's DVR management/show guide section via the web browser. As stated, you need the external sling box to actually watch content. However once you have the slingbox, you can watch content via a PC/laptop's web browser.

How does the sling player app find the ip address of your sling box?

Also, does anyone know if slingbox works with charter digital cable?

Mine is different since I have the Dish/Sling box. I don't know what setup is involved with normal Slingbox's, but you do need to register it online with the Sling ID # of the device. I believe it would search for it by the ID#. Not totally sure. Hopefully someone else with a Solo or Pro HD can help.

Shouldn't be any problems with your Charter cable; it's your internet speeds that will matter.
