Help Slow EVO

Lurker
Just got a Sprint HTC EVO, my wife has had hers for a year now with no issues. I had it for a week now and I've noticed is considerably slower than my wife's. We both downloaded Fring for video talk, hers connects every single time while mine just gives me a Your Current Network Speed Does Not Enable video call message. I took it to sprint and they did find it to be slow but could not firgure out what. Since I had just bouht it 6 days ago at bestbuy mobile, sprint said to go back to them and just get a new phone. Bestbuy also agreed the phone was slow and replaced it. The new one is the same way, all uptades are done. It does not make a difference if I'm in 4G or 3G, it will connect and do video chat on wifi but it flashes a red antenna meaning weak connection. Did sprint make the new evo's slower? or Are they having the i-phone antenna issue? It just sucks.

How do you walk out of a store with another "slow phone?" If the phone wasn't slow fresh out of the box then there is something you are doing to your device. I don't think its wise to leave the store with another slow phone if that's the case. What apps do you have loaded on the phone? You running a task killer? Are you talking about an app (Fring) being slow or the whole operating system?

Some apps can mess up the operating system and most people that work at Best Buy are not experts on Android. Why don't you and the wife try a different video chat app other than Fring for one? If its the operating system then you need to get your hands on a phone that works properly. I hope you are watching as the folks from Best Buy crack open a new box and hand you the phone. And they are not pawning refurbished phones off on you.

If your app is saying its having antenna problems that means your data source is jacked up in my opinion. Haven't seen people experiencing 3G, 4G, or Wifi problems. If the app sucks but another app works just fine then its the app not the phone.

welcome to the forum.. and evo.

i agree with evulution. you might have downloaded something.. or set some setting that caused your problem.

it is hard to believe you got 2 bad phones with similar issues.
if you can not figure it out... call sprint help and have them walk you through a hard reset to factory settings.
then try fring again. do not load anything else till you confirm it is ok. then load your other apps, one at a time; testing speed as you go.. and see what start the problem.
