Help Slow Loading SD Card

Hi All,

Whenever I unplug my phone from disk mode it takes around two to three minutes for my phone to allow me to access the SD card.

It is becoming very annoying!!

Any ideas?!!

Thanks a million!

try backing up your sd card to a pc, then format the sd card & copy your saved data back to the sd card.
This i have found often cures sd card problems.

Thanks!

Would this affect applications I have had installed on the phone?

Would android refuse to recognise them because it has some way of recognising the sd card, which will no longer be the same once formatted??

As long as you copy everything (including hidden folders) back, it should be fine. Applications are installed in the folder ".android_secure" on the SD card, once moved to SD.

SUroot with helpful advice again! You're a star! Thank you!

Indeed, I would only have done it after turning on "show hidden files and folders" and unticking "hide protected system files" in windows explorer!

Thanks again for your reassurance.

I shall report back and let you know if it makes a difference.

Hopefully it will. Its usually a dodgy file system which as anoniemouse suggests, a format should clear :)

Sorry to reawaken such an old thread but I was wondering

1. Did this work and
2. If the SD card has already been partitioned how does formatting it affect this? Does it impact the ext3 partition at all, does this need to be redone

Thanks
