Help slow messaging app

Lurker
is there an alternitive sms app for the htc incredible s

the stock one seems to be having issues with something on my phone.

Its slow, even with nothing else running. recieving a text message can take up to 5 seconds for the messaging app to display after recieving it. (5 seconds after the notifcation bar shows it)

opening the app sometimes takes 5 or 6 seconds of displaying just compose new before it will show all the other messages.

This happens when there is nothing unexpected running in the background and widgets etc run really sharp. only stock widgets running.

messages set to delete old messages hanging occours with threads containing as little as 2 or 3 messages. no mms just sms.

assume seeing as the forums arnt flooded with this problem its a somthing on my phone not quite set up right ideas?

Have you tried a boot? My stock app works really well so no idea why yours is soo slow? Have you had the problem since you had the phone or is it something that has just happened? Try unchecking 'delete old messages' box then boot and see if that makes any difference. Also if it has just happened try uninstalling things you installed at the time of the problem as a matter of Elimination. There is always a factory reset if all else fails.

If you are wanting an alternative I hear good things about this app although I have not tried it as I like my stock app.

I have this problem too, especially when I have just replied to a message and another one comes through. I have to exit the app and wait a few minutes for it to load again. I have tried other sms apps but I really don't want to use them.

Sometimes it can be working fine and others not so well.

>>I actually have the exact same problem on my HTC Incredible S. I bought the phone with Bell a few weeks ago, and about 3 days after using it, my messages app slowed right down. Whenever i click on 'Messages' it shows a white screen only saying compose message for up to ten minutes before all of my messages load. I even try clicking back to the home screen and then reclicking on messages to reload it, but sometimes that doesn't work, and I have to restart my phone, which also doesn't make it go any faster most of the time. Also, when I am sending a message it sometimes takes up to 3 minutes, it freezes on the screen with the box saying "please wait...", and sometimes the message never even sends. I usually don't have any other widgets running in the background and I haven't downloaded anything new since I have gotten my phone. Usually when I am waiting for my messages to load, or waiting for a message to send, I have to 'Force Close' and then try waiting for everything to load once again. I do like the phone and would like to keep it but waiting for my messages to load is a huge issue for me, and I would like to be able to fix it. Does anyone know any solutions or ideas I could try to make it go even a little bit faster? Or any different messaging apps that I could download that are any faster?

Thanks a lot! :)

Mine has been getting messages a half hour/hour after they are being sent, usually from people i'm about to meet or are right next to me.
it's only after the last update so HTC are idiots obviously.
It's not a network problem,
I put my sim back into my Nokia N8 and it works like a charm.
They really need to look into fixing this ridiculous Messages App because it is a phone, primarily, so if you can't send/recieve a simple text message then you should probably stop making phones HTC.
or at least ask Nokia/Apple how it is done properly.
I'd suggest HTC send them a text message but, oh, if Nokia wrote back it wouldn't turn up on the Incredible until half an hour after it needed to be answered.
Useful.
In my 11 years of owning Nokias i've never been so offended by something so simple not working the way it should.
HTC Inconvenient you could say.
Quietly Useless.

I had the problem with receiving texts really late and found if you follow the below instructions it will solve the problem:

go to settings
wireless and networks
mobile networks
network mode
it should be on GSM/WCDMA mode
switch it to GSM mode only

It will temporarily give you no bars on reception but that will go back to normal after a few seconds.

You will now receive texts pretty much straight away.

One drawback is you will only be on 2G internet connection, so if you want to go online, switch back to GSM/WCDMA mode and it will revert back to 3G.
