Hey all... I could not resist so I just pick up this phone today, activated, rooted , cwm...
Well I've been playing with this thing for the last 5 hours and I have to say it is quite slow and extreamly choppy, especially when it comes to the browser !!! After updatingthe host file and removing the ads it helped a bit... But my Transform Ultra handled way better than this evo... Heck my old Prevail even did better ???????

Do I have a hardware problem or are others having the same problem?

That seems odd. I already got mine rooted too using apache's technique and is been working pretty fast, everything pops in and out in an instance. Have you tried erasing the cache, dalvik, or factory reset?.

Sure did... Was the same before root and cwm.... I'm thinking of doing an exchange.... Wanted to see if its every one or just my phone.

Mine is very snappy. better than my warp or prevail. Soo you guys rooted your phone huh ? I was afraid due to the age of the posts. Ill have to give it a go..

I also am noticing that this phone does not have a compass??? Or do I just have a reject???

*add*
Also mine is running very hot, I could cook some eggs on it...

:) yeah, i must have messed up... i tore the box open from left to right... (note to self: "We're American man, we are right to left!!!)

much pun intended... :D:D:D just replying to the beautiful sarcasum from this post and the other..... ;):D:D:D;) ... but thanks for the input... not sure what exactly was wrong but i did exchange it, new one is much better but still my browser is sluggish... i had higher expectations for this baby.

Moved this to the "all things root" section of the Design forum, since this discussion pertains to a rooted phone.

I'd say you have a defective phone. I'm rooted and loaded up with all sorts of apps and it's pretty snappy and doesn't run hot like you're saying yours does.

There is nothing wrong with your guys phones and ones that say there phone flys. Is full of it needless to say, I have played with the ics builds for a few weeks. Where the boost versions are just not complete. The whole firmware lags and needs better optimized on htc's side. If anyone cares to think I am full it is welcome to flash a design or heros gingerbread boot.img and matching rom.

With that said if you want to have a rom you can actually use with out lag. Flash a hero s or design gingerbread rom. Which ever device you use rom wise you need the boot.img/kernel for that rom. Otherwise wifi, 4g and cam will break. You can then also flash my kernel to check out the benifits of overclocking and undervolting (Not just the cpu). How ever you will need a design rom I believe for 4g. Not sure if you will run into activation issues but doubt it as a reflash doesn't wipe the activation settings.

It is sad because the phone is very capable. Hopefully, HTC will release a maintenance update that speeds things up. One of my issues is that the message app will take a few seconds to show all the messages, whereas my Prevail would do that in a blink (I was also running CTmod). I am now using the Nova launcher, disabled a quite a few things (facebook, smith, and others), changed the transition effects time to 0.5x and things are much better.

I am monitoring the root options, but I am not in a hurry to do that. I have no memory/space issues and as far tethering is concerned, I am very happy with bluetooth tethering with FoxFi (I only tether in rare cases that I have no other option, e.g., a road trip).
