Root Slow Rooted MyTouch 3G on Gingerbread 2.3.7

Hey guys, I recently rooted my MyTouch3g which was on 2.2.1 (hated it) and flashed Gingerbread 2.3.7 onto my phone with ROM Manager. I don't have too many apps loaded but the phone is still quite sluggish. Tried to play angry birds and it would never get past the loading screen. I still get a lot of the Force Close alerts. Sometimes it quicker than others. I'll go to task manager and it will show only 2 apps to close, when I go to clear the cache there won't be much in there and always show I have around 238MB available.

Below are my phone specs, does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to speed up the phone? Overclock maybe? I'd like to put CM6 on if i could but it will never actually load, it will flash they i just get the Tmobile splash screen bootloop, is that because I'm rooted but phoen still shows S-ON?

Sorry a tad bit new to this, Thanks!!
