Help Smaller icons/UI elements?

Any programs or settings to make icons smaller or to fit more of them on screen, also to make widgets smaller? I seem to remember fitting a ton of stuff on my nexus 7 screens, although understandably that's a larger screen but it's about the same resolution. It seems as if widgets and icons are blown up much larger on the note 2.

I've used the More Icons widget before. You can also pull this off with alternate launchers such as Apex and Nova etc. They're all on the play store.

+1 Nova launcher. That the best way to modify your UI. You can change grid to ridiculous 16x16 and then re-size any icon or widget. Plus, you can make widgets overlap and control which one in the front/background. Furthermore, you have can have multiple scrollable dock icon screen/pages (up to 5) and can have up to 16 icons per dock. It's insane how you can customize everything. Plus custom icon themes, custom gestures, and so on.

Wow, the More Icons widget is awesome!!! That solves the icon issue, now to figure out smaller widgets, or maybe I can play around with the fonts in them.

Just installed this, looks very cool.

Holy crap Nova launcher is VERY nice, solves all my problems and then some that I didn't even know I had.

Last problem, the title bars in widgets are still HUGE, I've tried changing fonts settings globally but it doesn't seem to affect this. Anyone have any idea?

I'm interested to hear what settings you used for Nova to be able to use smaller widgets usable? I tried a couple of launchers including Nova and settled on Holo HD with a 10x10 grid, but have found that most widgets don't really work without taking up half the screen (thinking mostly of stock and news widgets, and some of the calendar widgets that came pre-installed). Would love to have widgets dynamically resize fonts and UI when I make them smaller, but as is it seems the fonts are set, so when I make the widget smaller I get the text cutoff.

Can you post a screenshot to get a better idea what title bar and widget you are talking about?

Yeah I found that the force widget resize function in nova does not work well, I turned it off. I'm still getting the huge titlebars in the widgets though. I'll post up a screen shot later on.

You can see the titlebars in all my widgets are huge, if I could size them down it would save me a ton of space.

Also unrelated, I'm trying to see if the paid version of Nova is worth it. How does the icon resize feature work? Does it interfere with the spacing?

Just guessing in that widget maybe font size is fixed rather than scalable? Probably has to do how its written. The widgets I use, just for example Android Weather, when I resize it - title bar got smaller. So it all depends on which widget you are using, I guess..

Actually, icons/shortcuts to app itself can't be resized, but you can delete title text, and also you can add a swipe function to launch any other app while swiping the icon (really cool!!!). Plus with paid version you get unread message/phone/text count right on top of your icon.

Yes if you'd like to support the developer- other than that the free version has a lot of options already.

@Spin You got a lot going on on you home screen. I think I've got about 3 apps total on mine. LOL!

Lol, yeah I think I went overboard. I did find a smaller titlebar/font Calendar replacement, but cannot find a good email or messages widget replacement.
