I very suddenly found myself with the stock keyboard, with an odd sound on keypress. I checked settings, and SmartKeyboard should have been doing its thing. I've also tried delete/reboot/reinstall/check settings, with no luck.
Update: I have no idea how, but my husband fixed it. In TV Tropes terms, he's a Walking Techfix. It's not at all unusual in our family for this to happen, something stops working right, he looks it over, it resumes working as it should.
I'm still curious as to how the malfunction happened, though.
