Help Smiley's in Texting Question

First off I am new to not only this forum, but Android as well. So hi and hello!
I am a heavy texter, and I really like this phone's texting abilities. Word prediction is amazing once you have your own dictionary. I love it. But i was wondering if there is an easier way to put smiley's in the message than typing them out. currently i use Menu>More>insert smiley. Is there a quicker way? Thanks!

I dont use the stock text app. I use handcent and the handcent emoji plugin for smileys (actually look like smiley faces and not this : p I cant stand those)

I use Go Sms and you can set the option to insert smiley at the bottom right of the keyboard.

Handcent has that same option I have go on my other phone I kinda feel like they are the same

Hit the "12#" button on the keyboard, then hit the "1/2" button and you'll see several emotions to choose from.

The only thing about Handcent that I do not like is unless you get the paid version is the adds and Go Sms does not have the it is free. But it is a matter of what you prefer.
