Help SMS Error Cause Code: 34 Error Class: 2. Continuing issues (delayed SMS, etc)

I still have this issue with my HTC EVO 3D in conjunction with the Airave. Getting old really fast....regret not waiting a little longer for the iPhone.

I've had this problem for months and after finally finding this thread noticed I've had the airvana for months too.

My 2 problems: when I send a sms it simply does not go through if its 127 characters or more. anything over, recipient never receives. anything under goes through no problem.
Problem 2 is sometimes out of no where I get an error that my sms did not go through. there is no way to fix this I've found besides soft resetting my phone. which by then I get a sms from my friend who says why'd you text me that 15 times.

I called sprint today and he said he sent some magic fairy dust to my phone. I turned it off. waited a minute. turned it back on. updated profile and send a 150 character text and amazing! it went through! however I got an error I've never seen that said, "SMS ERROR: error. message not sent. network not responding. saved in undelivered messages. please try again later." When I clicked on the details button it said, "Cause Code: 34 Error Class: 2".

I sent a few more large sms (between 140-150 characters) and none of them were received nor did I get that error message again. seems like I'm back at square one. I'm gonna call Sprint again and try getting someone in Advanced Tech and see if we can figure it out.

well, after over an hour on the phone with 3 different reps in advanced tech they gave up. cant fix my problem of sms between 130-160 not going through. they all recommended me to take it into the store to be possibly repaired, probably replaced. which I don't want to do cause my 1.40 HBoot is rooted and Ill probably be given a 1.50 HBoot. I guess Ill just live within till a proper root method for 1.50 HBoot comes out. Just gotta remember to keep my sms short.

what rom are you using, have you tried a full wipe and another rom? and a "proper" root methid is available for hboot 1.5 there will be nothing better to be released. The makers of revolutionary have stated that the htc unlock method is good enough to stop development on htc phones

I've used many roms recently. OMJ, Warm twopointthree, warm twopointthree 3.5, and Virus just to name a few. Yes I did a full wipe and didn't restore with TB and still had the problem. from what I can tell the htc unlock method is not a real root. its just like a work around. I can't tell what the difference is and/or what features I have now that I would loose if I get a replacement phone with 1.50 HBoot.

I've had similar issues to Curb71. My husband and I both have HTC Evo 3Ds. We also have a Sprint Airvana because reception in our home makes the phones unusable.

Both of our phones have the text issues and the random error messages. Per Sprint's instructions, I took my phone to a Sprint store where they did a factory reset. My text messages worked for about a month but I'm having the missing texts/part of texts errors again.

Neither of the phones are rooted.

Extremely frustrated. Anybody have any updates/solutions? I would can Sprint except they have me trapped in a new 2-year contract because they prolonged fixing my problem for so long.

It's not a true solution, but have you looked into VoIP text messaging services? Google Voice integrates right into your Sprint number and uses IP instead of Sprint's SMS server. The only thing you have to give up on is MMS. Google Voice does not do MMS. Although there are alternative VoIP texting services that do MMS, if that's a dealbreaker for you. But they require you use a number they provide.

If you just want to send text messages instead of picture messages, I'd recommend you give Google Voice a shot. Make sure to set it up on your phone, first, then go to voice.google.com and finish the carrier integration there.

i use google voice exclusively for over 2 years. no issues at all. GV does not do mms as stated but that does not matter to me. i get way more "pros" over that one "con". i also have an airvana. have both models and have been using the airvana/airave through sprint for over 3 years.

you can always pay the ETF if you want out of the contract. i think its reduced by 10 bucks each month into the agreement.

@jero,

what other voip services out there that do allow mms? care to share with the class which one(s) you would recommend?

I saw some other members in either the Android Apps or Android Lounge talking about it a few weeks ago. I considered downloading the app to check it out, but didn't want to register a number if I didn't have to. I couldn't find it after doing a quick search, so I wonder if it got removed because it's not legit? IDK. If I see it again, I'll post it here and give you a PM.

I have an EVO 3d and iv had this problem before well basically my texts are delayed by minutes and sometimes hours...i talked to a few others that have sprint and have EVO 3ds but some don't have smart phones on sprint but they are experiencing the same exact issues and I also have a few friends with straight talk and there also experiencing no signal, roaming constantly and late or delayed texts in the Erie pa area is anyone else on sprint experiencing these issues!? I'm about to call tech support now just figured I'd check here first :(

I use to have this problem on my old HTC Hero with Sprint. A lot of times they told me it was just the network being slow, or it was the "other" peoples phones/carriers causing the issue.

If it's a constant issue, I'd recommend you try the Google Voice integration. You lose MMS ability, but you can use your sprint number to text with VioIP (which uses data and Google's servers instead of the Sprint servers). If MMS is a necessity, there are other VoIP alternatives that claim that feature.

Okay I called sprint once i got off the phone with them it was fixed long story short nasty snow bull $$it weather here the past few days took out a tower :( but the now network fixed it pretty quickly thank god !!!!

Hi 814! Just wanted to say that I had to contact Sprint due to no Internet or receiving and sending texts on two separate occasions. There were tower outages in both instances. Normally I have excellent service and told the rep that, but very politely I asked for and received two 50.00 credits on my account (I have 5 lines). Just thought I'd share because hey, every little bit helps and I have found if you are nice and if there is a legitimate problem on their end they will knock some off of your bill.

I just started getting the code 64 class 2 error yesterday. Why would it suddenly show up? Today it's still occurring. I tried pulling the battery. Didn't work. (For some evidently this works.) Tried uninstalling Airave - don't know if that would do anything, but just in case.... No success.

I just upgraded from a Hero a week ago. My hboot on this phone is 1.3 - to my delight. I'm rooted, S-off, and running Fresh 4.2.0. All was fine till yesterday. I can remember no changes. I'm wondering if there was some auto update that occurred. Where can I check to make sure I don't get auto updates without my permission? And could any of these brought this on?

Thanks for any help!

Auto updates are in System > Software Updates > HTC Updates > uncheck the box. Or, if you know how to freeze apps, you can just freeze the Updater app.

But for your texting problem, go to Settings > Software Updates > Update PRL. Then repeat for profile. See if that helps.
