Help SMS Error since moving to 4.0

Hi,

I live in London and have an HTC Sensation on Vodafone Contract. Vodafone recently pushed out the Android 4.0 Upgrade and ever since then I have been having a really annoying error.

About 20 times a day, the phone gives the SMS notification and when I unlock the screen I see a message saying:

SMS message
020 (or 0207 or 0208)
Save / Cancel

Here is a photo. Sorry it is low quality, but I had to use my laptop webcam to take the photo as I cannot use the phone until I have dismissed the message so cannot take a proper screenshot.

If I press Cancel it goes away. If I press Save, it takes me to Messages and saves the message as if it was an SMS from 020 (or 0207 or 0208) with the text being a two digit number.

Any idea what is causing this and how to stop it? If it helps, 0208 and 0207 are the London area dialling codes. I am receiving phone calls and proper SMS messages just fine.

I tried Vodafone and they got me to take out the battery and Sim for 10 mins then reboot, but that didn't help.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Hi Misty, I've moved your post to the Sensation section, hopefully other users of the device will be able to assist. :)

Have you tried turning off Cell Broadcast Info in call settings?

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Oh, and I have no idea what Cell Broadcast Info is. I'll Google it.

It's info sent by the radio tower your phone is connected to. It can send different bits of info, one of which is the area code.

On my older nokias, it was displayed as the area code on screen, from what I've seen on Android, it gets to you via SMS.

Great news! It hasn't happened ever since I turned off the Cell Broadcast option! Thanks so much.

Will recommend this site to the small number of friend I have who are not iPhone using, herd following conformists.
