Help sms inbox problem

Lurker
Hi all,

I'm new to htc (I should say to Android). I have a small problem with my sms inbox on desire s, i.e. it displays mobile number instead of contact's name (also it displays a default pic). It happens only for 1 contact, which happens to be the most frequent one... Funny thing is that phonebook is syncronised with facebook and google. Furthermore, when I call the contact a pic from FB and the name are shown as they should. I'm more than confused, so please... help!

Regards,

Micheal

In People (the list of your contacts), how many contacts are there for this person? (Make sure it says 'All' at the top of your screen.) You may have several contacts for the same person and their details may differ across various contact books, e.g. Gmail, Facebook, Outlook, etc.

If you find more than one, you can link them with the 'link' button at the top right of the person's contact page or just edit one of them to include all the details and then delete the rest. Or you can touch the phone number of the SMS and choose to 'Save to existing contact'.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried everything you suggested: all entries are linked - no change, adding number to existing contact doesn't help as well.... I have a strange feeling that a solution is as simple as making sandwich....

What I'd try next (if you haven't already) is delete any/all contacts you have of this person, then open an SMS with the number of the person in, press the number and select 'Add contact' and fill in a new contact. Then see if that number becomes associated with the new contact.

Make mine a cream cheese and smoked salmon.

I tried that solution (having the exact same problem) and it didn't work. If there are any veterns out there with HTC Sense, please give advice on how to set these phones up without the Contacts list nightmare.....

I don't seem to have this problem, the messages displays both the contact name and number, although sometimes the profile picture disappears and display the gray shilouette instead. There is another thread regarding a software update being rolled out that fixes this problem, apparently. Wished it fixed the Wi-Fi issue instead!
