Help SMS issues with Photon 4G

Hi, I'm new here so please forgive any ignorance/missteps. I didn't see a thread regarding the problem I'm having with my just-got-it-today Photon, so I figured I had better ask.

For some reason, I can't receive any SMS messages on this thing. I went ahead and sent myself an MMS via email on my desktop and it worked like a champ, but no SMS at all. Tried a power cycle, removing the battery and then a hard reset of the device all the while sending myself SMS's from Sprint's website, still no luck.

Any ideas??

Quick Update...

I've gotten SMS messages to show up on my phone if I route them through Google Voice. Not exactly my preferred way to do it, but it works for now.

I'd still like to figure out what is going on, though.

Did you integrate voice with your sprint number?


If so, then set your Google voice "sync and notifications" setting to "notify by text message"

If g voice wasn't integrated you probably need to exchange the phone.

I thought about it, but that will end up giving me dual notifications (I believe). I'd prefer to avoid that and just get the native text message app to work properly.

Turn off notifications on google voice. Text messages get forwarded to native messenger app,. If you have voicemail, you will be notified via text message as well.
