sms messages not showing contact names

Hi all,

First time post and just had my desire for all of 2 days. It's my first htc phone and i'm just getting used to it.

I had a browse and search but couldn't find an answer.

I'm in china and hence i enter all my contacts with the appropriate country code in the format +44 rather than 0044.

Thing is, when i get a text it's in 0044 and then the phone doesn't attach the contact to the message.

Am I going to have go through all my contacts and change the numbers or is there a simple fix?

Thanks

timo

This issue was posted long ago, but I just got a Nexus phone and had the same problem but was able to resolve it. I posted the solution elsewhere on this sight, but might as well copy & paste the solution here in case someone's search takes them here:

I had this problem with my Nexus 6 using Verizon service. I would get group text messages with all people in my contact list, but some would should names while others only phone numbers. I was able to fix it:
(1) In the message window, click on that three-dot button in the upper right hand corner.
(2) Click on "People & Options".
(3) Touch a phone number where the name is not being displayed.
(4) Click on the pencil icon.
(5) You will see the first and last name is blank on the contact (in my case, my contact's name was listed under "Notes"), so enter their name and hit save.
Their name should now appear in your text messages!

I agree, only I never use the last name field.

I put all the info into the 1st name field in the precise order that I need it to show for searches.

ie, for my motorcycle friends,

GW Username Jack Spratt.

GW means Goldwings, theusername is their forum name, and then their real name.

what happens is the phone will scroll threw all of the name over and over....

and, when I use "Guesture Search", it nearly always gives me what I want on the 2nd character I draw
