Help sms/mms conversion

Hey all, something that is really doing my head in is a long SMS being converted into an MMS. Not all my contacts can receive an MMS. It's such a ludicrous idea. Never come across it before on anything else. Most phones will just send a combined 3 text messages.

I have looked other suggestions on here to use Handcent et al but don't want to. Has anyone found a workaround on the Note? Cheers

While I'm here, how can you get rid of the keyboard without pressing back?

The stupid limits of SMSs on Android phones I've had IS ludicrous.

There are some oversights on the Note, like the back button, but hopefully the Samsung will fix these in the next version

I've sent sms's over 5 messages long before with no problems at all. I've never heard of any phone trying to convert a long sms to an mms.
