Help SMS/MMS Notification Problem

[rhallstrom]

I have recently purchased and HTC Desire, and have an issue that I can't seem to resolve.

The notification sound for SMS/MMS Messages doesn't work!!! All settings seemed to be set right. Please help!!!

I have read similar posts, but still haven't found an answer that helps in my situation.

I've tried

menu>settings>sound & display

AND

messages>menu>settings

I have my notification set in Settings>Sound>Notifications>(select here)

And the same sound is selected in my Messages>Settings>Notification sound

Make sure the "Play notification sound" box is ticked also.
