Help SMS Not Showing Up - Sent or Received

Hi All,
Randomly this morning my Turbo began not displaying incoming or outgoing sms and pictures. I restarted the phone, cleared data, cleared cache, and changed messaging apps.

I can see the preview of it in active notifications and the notifications drop down, but as soon as you select its gone.

I'm on Verizon.

Anyone have any tips?

Thanks.

Well, this may be a little extreme, but the last resort may be to go into settings / apps, slide to "All", look for "Phone / Messaging storage", tap it and "force stop" and that should allow you to "clear data" (and then make sure to restart the phone.) But I think that this would lose all of your messages, including the ones that you received but haven't seen yet.

If I were to venture a guess it's that there is corruption in the SMS storage database (which is managed by that app, and which usually all SMS apps that you install refer to), and it's not allowing you to see beyond a certain point.

Which app were you using for SMS? And, do you have the app Textra installed but not the default? Because if these are MMS messages, Textra has this downside of fetching MMS message content before the default app can when it is not the default but still installed on the phone. This shouldn't happen for standard text messages, though - but remember that group text messages are usually sent as MMS, even when they are plain text.

If you were using Verizon Messages, I'd think that you'd be able to see the messages on the web version on a PC browser.

This would, I think, also make you lose any call logs, too, if those are important to you (though I'm not 100% sure if that with KitKat and, I hope you don't mind, but I don't feel like testing this with my phone...)

Thank you for the reply. I've found more issues. The time thinks its the 16th. Nothing is updating. Facebook lists everything as "just now". Google new stand lists everything as " in 3 days". I'm pulling all my personal data now and getting more aggressive.

I'm going to delete all cache then do a system cache delete. Will see where this goes but I'm not above a full factory reset.

That sounds like a smart plan. Good luck. I hope the cache wipes solve it.

If you have any apps disabled, you can try re-enabling them, too.
