Help SMS Notifications

I need my phone to wake me up in the night when I receive a text message. I see where I can chose different text notification sounds, but they sound briefly, then quit. I need to have it play continuously until I read it?
Is this possible?

Not sure how to get it to play continuously till it wakes you up unless you choose a long ring tone as your notification.

That said, you can set up Repeat Notifications in apps like Chomp and Handcent!

chomp is absolutely light years ahead of stock sms app. i got it couple off weeks ago and will never go back. check out the free version, im sure you will be happy, then pay to remove adds.

I will look up chomp, how do you turn off the messages in the normal messages app? So I don't get one to it and the same one to chomp?

You can also download the app Rings Extended which will allow you to choose any sound file on your phone for a ringtone or notification sound.

Menu -> Settings -> Delivery Reports (Uncheck it)
