Hi, I don't understand how to root my stellar 4.1.2 phone and all I want to do is to recover deleted texts. The reason why I cannot understand the rooting is because the links are broken, I don't have time to research, and I do not want to delete any data that is on my phone. Could someone please help point me in the right direction as to how I can recover (or at least see) deleted texts from my phone? Thank you.

Help SMS Recovery without Root?

Hi banedude.
My Android (also 4.1.2) stores the text messages in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databaes/mmssms.db
You will only be able to get this via root however. If you do root it, check this folder for another database of the name mmssms and a different extension to .db as this is more than likely where your messages will be (if they are all 'lost').
MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT DATABASE FIRST before diong anything rash.
Once you have got your messages back, I highly suggest backing them up using "SMS Backup and Restore" app. It's very easy to use.
