Help sms resending

I am experiencing occasional problems sending text messges from my Desire HD. If a message cannot be sent then the phone reports that sending is unsuccessful; a timer symbol is attached to the message and the phone tries again to send the text. If this fails I can go to the submenu and press resend. I can use the resend option once or twice but after that the resend option is not shown as an option; then the only way I can get the message to send is to retype it and send in the normal manner. On other mobiles I have had, one can use resend as often as aI want! Incidentally I am on Orange/TMobile but I do not think this is the problem with the Resend option disappearing. Any suggestions?

Can anyone help with my query?

Also on the HD Desire - how do I reply to an earlier message? I can reply to the latest text message but when I highlight a slightly earlier message there is no option to reply to it. Is this a phone fault?

Mine doesn't have the option either. However, as replying to a text message does not include a copy of the original text in the same way that email does, what difference does it make which message you reply to?
