Help sms vibrate/notification bug - anyone else got this?

Just out of interest, wondering if anyone has got this bug. Am running 2.3.4, and even if I have vibrate set to 'always' - the delivery of sms messages will be completely without vibration UNLESS I have the 'status notifications' option selected.

Interested to know if this is a bug or something I've done wrong/not set properly.

Do you use any other apps that supress or mute notifications, like an alarm or night clock app? I am havingissues with one of these apps that when closed does not switch notifications back on..
