Help SMS wrong time

AFG_UNIT

Lurker
I have the samsung galaxy s2. I never had this problem before until now. After daylight saveings day, the phone automatically fixed the clock. But the text messaging was weird after. When i send a text message, the time is correct. But when i receive a text message from someone else the time recieved is behind by about an hour. so if i send a message at 5pm, and my friend responds right back, his message is above mine with the time at 4pm. Can anyone help?

Your friend's time is probably incorrect

No, this issue exists with everyone i text. Every time i receive a text, the time is 1 hour behind the actual current time. When i send a message, everything is correct, but whenever a receive a message, the received time is always 1 hour behind.

This becomes a bit frustrating because when i am having a texting convo, the persons message is always above because of that 1 hour difference

When i send a message to myself, the time sent is 4:31pm, but the time recieved is 3:31pm :S
(the correct time is 4:31pm)

Have you tried manually setting your timezone and unticking the automatic selection of time? Just wondering if the sms app isn't reading the time correctly from the timezone or something. (Doesn't make sense but changing related settings cause software to kick back in sometimes.)

I can't imagine it being a provider issue as more people would be talking about it.

Manually adjusting it doesn't help because the time sent is correct but the time received is wrong. There's no way of adjusting it specifically. That will just make both times wrong

What messaging app are you using?

Im using the standard messaging app that comes with the phone

Not necessarily. Have you tried it?

I suggested it because your messaging app is obviously reading the incoming time from somewhere between itself and the network depending on send/receive. By making changes to the system times, (and switching to manual) there is a good chance the software may re-read its settings because of said change.

There was a similar known issue with Ubuntu and a couple of other linux based systems as parts of it read it and others didn't within the same software. It was the way the variable was passed. Changing system time was enough for all parts of the clock variables to reset.

Also, make sure you switch off all location services, put time on manual and set it correctly. Restart phone and see if its corrected. Then switch back on your location services and network time sync.

Would be worth a try I would have thought considering it has to read it time from the system and there's nothing to lose.

If they don't work you could try SMS time fix in the Market but I think I would be looking at all local settings for time and location first in case something is interfering with it.

Well I was texting my friend and the time was fixed! I do not know how. The last time I texted was an hour ago the time was wrong, but when i returned it was fixed. Somehow the phone fixed itself. Idk what the problem was, maybe a bug from daylight savings or something. But thanks everyone for input and suggestions. I appreciate it! :D
