When I receive a long text message, it will break it up into a few different messages. 1/2 2/2 and then say proceeding message modified. How do I make that stop amd give me one long message? Thanks

I think the default message app really sucks, i would suggest you try Handcent, it gives you options on how to handle long text messages. It will do what it considers simple split, haven't had any issues with that. give it a try.

Well its not that it sucks, but rather it lacks and i mean it really lacks some customization functionality.

sms is limited to 160 characters....smartphones allow you to type past that (unlike regular cellphones) but it still will only process 160 per message

This happens on Handcent also..

I'm sorry you are right, i didn't read the question correctly, yes when someone sends you a long message, your smsis limited to 160 characters, once the sender sends more than that, it will automatically break it up into two messages, which is why you see that on yours and you will continue to see it on yours.

FYI, this is by design (SMS) and standard throught all carriers.

That's actually not completely true. I had a Droid Incredible before this phone, a Droid Eris before that, and a bunch of BlackBerry phones before that. Not even one of them would show that stupid message. Yes, it breaks the messages up into 2 (or more) messages, but this is the first phone that I've had that sends that annoying message behind it.

I know I'm a day late and dollar short but I had a non smartphone (lg env2) that I could type 640 characters before it stopped me ;)
