Help Snapchat video recording issues

Hey all,

Recently the video recording feature on my Snapchat app has been messing up. When I hold down the record button, weird vertical lines appear down the centre of the screen that are visible on the recording when viewed by other people.

This problem does not occur when using the actual camera app on the phone which leads me to believe it's not a hardware problem but something to do with Snapchat itself. It did used to work a few weeks ago, but I can't tell whether it changed when I updated Snapchat or when I updated to Android KitKat.

I have tried a variety of things including:
  • Reinstalling Snapchat
  • Clearing all data from the app
  • Restarting the phone

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Cheers!

Hey,

You can uninstall the newest version in Snapchat in settings--> apps--> downloaded, right? I would drop the Snapchat people a line to ask if anyone made similar experiences.

Cheers,
Nicole

Thanks for replying, it's good to know I'm not the only one then, and it's not just my handset.
I haven't been able to find anyone with the same problem as me yet though, I'll just see what happens in the future, I don't use it that much anyway

ABSOLUTELY! I also have this problem and I know some people who also have it and they all have a bq aquaris E5. I think that everyone who have a bq have this issue, but there is other brands that make that "colorful videos". Well, I don't know what causes this but I'd really like to know how to end with this weird bug. I hope with the next update, the Snapchat videos will be okay again!!!

Omg. It's the worst I'm experiencing the same thing with my Xperia Z. Although it's only when I post it on my story or send it to someone it's totally fine before I can save it and everything and it will be fine.

I have the same phone and having the same issue :-(

Hello!

A few weeks ago I started to have a weird issue. When I record a video in Snapchat it looks normal and plays back normal, but when I send it to someone or look at it in my story, there are weird horizontal lines obscuring it, making it impossible to view. It does not matter if I record landscape or portrait. It happens every time. I'm on version 9.9.0.0 and I have already tried uninstalling. I've heard of people with similar issues but they had vertical lines while recording. Mine don't appear until after the video is sent. Any idea of a fix?

Best,

K

Has snap chat changed? I thought the original point was that pics and vids couldn't be recorded to protect people's 'dignity "lol

No mine has not been fixed yet either and I updated the app...same issue..I even wrote to snapchat and they gave me some direction but was unsuccessful... So I think it has something to do with the permissions on snapchat and on the phone is some privacy conflict..
The new update was released and they still haven't fixed it was it fixed for you?

Hey,
If no one has resolved the problem this is how I resolved my problem; since, I have the same phone(Sony Xperia Z) and had the same issue, until I went to: snapchat>settings>join Snapchat beta>clicked count me in>sends you to an internet tab for beta> click uninstall and reinstall where it gives you the directions for installing beta (it should be the 3rd one in roman numerals iii) and wait for at least a minute or so after uninstalling it to reinstall. If this doesn't solve the issue it may be your internet connection, mainly if you have 4g in places that interfere. Good luck!

I'm running version 9.11.0.0 I believe its the newest update, although if you have an xperia z it seems to glitch due to the internet connection or Snapchat is favoring iPhone or apple products more than androids(doesn't seem to happen with my iPod even when I have the hotspot on, on my phone)

I have the SAME issue!! I have a Droid MAXX and peopel have been telling me that my videos are all messed up. Come to find out they were seeing the same thing. Uninstall and re-install fixed it the first time for a few snaps then it went back to the old ways.

System Version: 24.13.2.obake-maxx_verizon.Verizon.en.US

Model number: DROID MAXX

Android Version: 4.4.4

Kernal Version: 3.4.42-gdb5a4c6

I have the same issue. tried uninstall and re-install. trying the beta part now...

I am having the same Issue on my Moto X. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as downloading the Beta. Still no improvement.
