Snapdragon BatteryGuru

Has anyone tried using Snapdragon BatteryGuru on their G3? The Play store description says it's "a battery life saver app that extends battery performance and improves overall user experience by intelligently making changes that optimize device functionality in phones with Snapdragon mobile processors."

I've been using it for a few weeks and can't say I've noticed any great benefit, although I do switch mobile data and Wi-Fi off whenever I'm not using them, so that must limit the benefits it can provide.

The G3's battery power consumption is the one aspect of the phone I'd like to see improved - it doesn't seem that I'm getting the incredibly long run time of some users, although it's definitely not bad. One thing which I'm still getting used to is that the battery level sticks at 100% for quite some time, whilst the drop from 20% to nothing happens very quickly.

Just for completeness, I'm on the Three network in the UK - I understand the network provider can have a bearing on power consumption.

Here's a link to the app:

I haven't used that app, but in general I feel like those types of apps can't deliver. The vast majority of the battery will be eaten by the screen, CPU/GPU under duress, or straining is a marginal signal area.

I can confirm your observations on the 100% longevity, however. Mine stays at 100% forever, and then drops more quickly and evenly until about 30%, where it really starts dropping fast.

I think the battery is great compared to my Nexus 5.

Wondering if it's designed to look better than it actually is? Mine shows 100% forever...

Battery saver apps are a waste of time. I used to try them out alot when I first started with smart phones.but over time I have come to know that they don't do anything to help same with task manager apps.

I look at these (along with task manager) apps the same way I look at the gas mileage gizmos offered for cars. If they actually worked, and did what was advertised, the manufacturers (of phone and cars) would install them stock. Why wouldn't you want a phone with a longer battery life or a car that gets better mileage? Nothing in it for the manufacturer not to have it.

Therefore, they don't work.

I agree in general about battery saving apps usually not being worth bothering with. The reason I tried this one was because it is written by Qualcomm specifically for phones which use their Snapdragon processors. I hoped that the people who make the silicon would be well-placed to optimise it.
