Root So about this Optimus T and CM7...

Every bit of info I seem to find about loading a new rom onto the Optimus is from 2010 or 2011. It is now March 16th, 2012, so to say the information is probably a bit out dated in a technological sense would be an understatement, haha. What is the fastest CM7 rom that has a good chunk of customization options AND is stable? If you have an answer and link I would super appreciate it! (hopefully people still look at this part of the forum, haha)

Try looking over here T-Mobile Optimus T - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com. It should get you rooted if your not already. Next it will get you a custom recovery installed, where you can make a backup.

Still don't know how phone reset. You should have seen a menu with options. Should be resolved with a custom recovery though.

Not a whole lot out there for the T. Will keep my eyes open. With the new CM-9 (ICS) builds for so many different phones maybe they will port one over to the T, never know.

The mechanics of loading custom ROMs have not changed.

Something that will help while doing all this. Fast Uninstaller & Installer from the market. It allows non rooted user's to backup there apps to the sd card.

Why wouldn't one just root, instead? Are there disadvantages that I'm not aware of? I was under the impression that rooting increased performance and battery life, with or without cleaning out unnecessary apps. Rooting an android 2.x phone is so simple any 1st grader could do it without even a hiccup. Its the recovery making and rom loading that may cause problems.

Not everybody has as easy of a time rooting their phones. The app I mentioned just backs up all the app's (apk's only) that you have downloaded. It doesn't matter weather you have them on the sd card or the system. Then you can backup everything on the sd card to a folder on a PC just in case a mistake is made.

dralways: maybe you can give K1TTEN M1TTEN a walkthrough of the rooting process and what recovery(and the install procedure) to use as well as the best ROM for the "T".

EDIT: Have you looked at the thread just below this. It has some very good info in it. http://androidforums.com/optimus-t-...oatware-must-die-my-noob-rooting-journal.html
