via Toast or Unrevoked, has complete root been achieved, the kinda root that lets you write to /system and /data?

I think it has and I just missed it. :D

If not, then I'm still waiting until it is before I root. :p

I used both unrEVOked and Toast's method after the OTA and both worked so there are no problems there. I prefer Toast's method just because it makes me feel more complete and warm and fuzzy inside, like not cheating on a test or something. Also, it allows me to get rid of the Sprint apps and my phone has been running alot faster it seems.

Question about Toast's method.

Can you brick your phone? I mean like if something fails during the root or writing of a rom can you fix it yourself or do you have to "loose" your phone and claim the insurance, cough cough.

My friend bricked his HTC windows based phone and the only way he could fix it was to get a replacement for $100 bucks.

you can brick it, but if you follow directions and your power doesnt go out during the process you probably wont. yeah $100 would be the replacement fee if you have the insurance. its certainly not covered in your warranty.
