So I bought the new iPhone to check it out.

I'm sorry but forcing someone to void their warranty in order to change some icons is nowhere near androids ease of use when it comes to customization.

Actually, you are correct.

There are two camps: rooters/Jailbreakers and stock users. Both have fans. So perhaps we should only discuss why one device is better based only on stock status rather than what you can do when you root or JB.

Themes and non-rooted Android devices go hand in hand; the process is a fast and easy. I'll give you that.

One could argue that anyone that roots should not comment about jailbreaking and warranty violations. The old, "people that live in rooted houses should not throw Jailbreakers," or some such comes to mind. Or are you saying that rooting is allowed under your warranty?

Never said it was allowed, but youre comparing peaches to grapes here. It was your incorrect statement about iOs being as easily customizable as Android, which is certainly not the case.

The lightness of the SGS2 can be mis understood as poor workmanship, compared to thicker and more substantial phones, but it was designed to be light, and thin, but still has great build quality; it's put together very well.

Every time I see a phone that is designed to be light and thus uses more plastic, there are people complaining that it feels cheap. Every time I see a phone that is built really solid with more metal, there are people complaining that it feels like a brick. There's no satisfying everyone.

What does easy really mean? I can change a theme or component in less than 30 seconds. There is no difference, really. Except for installing jailbreaks which can be done OTA from the device or with something like Greenpois0n.

Easy/quick are in the eyes of the beholders. Not hard to JB and once done, changing a theme is as easy on an iPad as it is on an Android phone. We should likely stop arguing this because there are relatively few differences.

I tend to favor the heavy side.

You described how they satisfy everyone. They build them both ways. ;)

Well just speak the word jailbreak/root to people who arent like us(techheads) and they often go running (figuratively) scared despite the relative ease of the procedure to people like you and I. I once came across a person afraid of running a defrag and thier HD because they were afraid they were going to do it wrong. So to most people, that is a substantial difference whether you think so or not. Remember, you always have to factor in the lowest common demoninator.

Changing wiper blades & oil are a relatively easy process. So why are there people afraid to change thier own wiper blades & oil???

It's amazing how many people are afraid to do ANY customizing of their phone whatsoever. I'd actually guess that the majority of Android phones in use today are still running with the exact screen and widget setup that was on them when they were purchased, because changing them is too scary for most people to handle.

Yes. Plus I am pretty happy with the launchers and everything else. HTC Sense is a great stock launcher.

My co-worker's main screen on his Droid Pro is the exact same as it came to him. I asked him why he hasn't changed it and he said he didn't want to jinx it...
