So I got an Amazon Dot....

Ziggy you just have to get the Philips Hue Color bulbs to justify your purchase. Turning the lights on and off and changing colors on demand is something that happens right then. Instant satisfaction!

I'm not a dot user so I'm not sure what the correct commands are for your device but once you've got them down it's like magic! Way more satisfying than ordering something that might take a day or two to get there.

I will have to give them a try! (Provided they aren't TOO expensive. The wife and I are both kinda cheap)

The thing with the Philips bulbs is you need the hub as well to be able to control them. That's why I passed.

I use the LIFX bulbs and they work wonderfully, I have the Home Mini so I am not 100% sure they work with Amazon but I think they do. Plus the WeMo plugs are quite nice too, Costco has 2 packs of the WeMo for 30 bucks right now.

I've pretty much settled on TP-link. I do have a WeMo plug, but it doesn't seem as consistent as the TP-link stuff (I have four smart bulbs, three plugs and a wall switch). I have a Google home in my family room, and two mini's in other parts of the house.
