Root So I took the plunge...

Decided it would be easier just to try out Leedroid rather than removing the bloat from Modaco.

However I seem to be having a lot of issues. As I mentioned earlier my recovery only boots about 50% of the time, otherwise I pull the battery after 5 minutes.

Also when I now do a wipe/factory reset it does not do a factory reset even though it says complete :confused: This one worries me a lot.
 
As above, flash Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 to fix your recovery booting problem. A wipe will erase your data partition, if you get the set up screen after booting it has done it.

Flash clockwork instead of amen ra, or how does that work?

As far as A2SD+ goes.. I installed leedroid, I even reformatted my SD card and I still cannot move apps to the sd card. Not sure what is going on.

Plus when I did a recovery/factory reset it just reset to the previous custom rom I used.
 
a2SD+ doesn't need a manual move to SD card. It tricks the phone to think your partition is internal memory. You did partition your SD card I assume?

Download Quick System Info from the market. It tells you how much EXT partition space is used / free.

If some of the space is being used, then its working.
 
You don't do a recovery when you do a wipe. A recovery will do exactly that - take your phone to the same state it was when you made the backup.

I have formatted the SD card yes, and I did not expect it to do it automatically, but I do not have the option of moving apps to the sd card via the application manager as I did in OpenDesire. I am assuming this means it is not functioning correctly.

This was working perfectly in open desire, it would allow me to move any application to the sd card via this option.

In manage applications "Move to sd card" is redundant with a2SD+.

This will not work.

As I said, download quick system info to see how much of the partition is used or free space. if it has been used, then its working.

Thanks, I still seem to be confused on the A2SD functions. I suppose open desire must have been using A2SD and not A2SD+ and this was the reason why I had to move everything over manually?

Sorry for all the confusion.

Last thing I promise: You recommended I install clockwork instead of Amen Ra Recovery. Is there an easier/quicker method of doing this?

With A2SD/A2SD+ it replaces the default /data/app to /sd-ext (and links it to /data/app) making the phone think /sd-ext is its own internal storage hence no need to move anything to the SD card. Froyo's standard apps2sd moves apps to /sdcard/.android_secure and not all apps support being moved to there. And apps that uses services and widgets shouldn't be moved to the SD card via apps2sd, whereas it can work just fine in A2SD's partition.

Sorry, just a bit of a correction there.
 
A2SD+ doesn't quite work that way, but the concept is more or less right - it transparently moves /data/app (and some other bits) to the sdcard so Android just assumes it's where it should be.
 
Basically google heard of the original apps2sd "hack" and decided to launch it themselves with the same name. However, the original was better so they added a + to the name.
 
Google doesn't refer to it as A2SD, that's a label that has come from here and other forums. Google's implementation is much more elegant than a quick hack script, but because so few apps support it yet, not as useful.
