So if not Note 5. What phone?

Apologies for dredging up an old post. I'm adopting a wait and see approach also, for the same reasons oft repeated.
I gave my Note 3 a new lease of life as well, by taking it apart and giving it a clean with alcohol and a cotton tip and ever so gently levering the contact springs for the GPS pad ,(I was having GPS issues - fixed it too!).
Read about MoboClean and tried it. It caused havoc with some reinstals, lost settings and stuff and I don't detect any improvement in battery life at this stage. How is it running for you now? Anyone else tried it?
How do you manually turn off run in background permissions?

My Note 3 has been starting to show signs of "old phone" instances. Just odd occurrences of the phone not functioning properly.

That said, it looks like Sprint might have opted for the mid-range HTC a9 over carrying the LG V10.

Well, I just hope Blackberry doesn't wait until November to release the Priv. They've already formally announced it, so it's just a matter of confirming all the specs and releasing it. As of right now, that will at least be a stop-gap upgrade, until the folding phones are finally released.

If only there were some sort of confirmation that Windows 10 Mobile would be able to use android apps, even if just side-loaded, I'd actually consider the Lumia 950 XL. It's virtually the same size footprint as the Note 3, including the 5.7 screen.

Together w/all the Microsoft apps on Android, this should be the perfect device for you (S-Note/Stylus notwithstanding).
I think it will definitely be useful for work, in certain respects. There are certain day to day activities that have become part of my routine, that I think I will miss a lot, without the s-pen. But I will have to adjust, if I end up keeping it.

I've barely scratched the surface w/the S-Pen,but,have used it more w/the Note5 than the NOTE3 & 4 combined.
I hope the series continues for years to come & would like to see other mfgs give it a go.

The one thing I will definitely miss is daily note reminders, especially grocery lists. I actually don't care for keep and although I have used it, the Evernote interface is not the greatest, in my opinion, but will end up being my Note taking choice if I move away from Samsung. One Note has actually become my go to note taking app for work and personal business documents. It has been awesome ever since Microsoft added pen identification abilities natively in the app for Android and program for pc.

I will definitely miss the light Saber sound whenever I pull the s-pen out of my phone. Note Buddy pro made that possible.

According to the Reddit poster that posted the newest leaked pics, seems like the Priv is definitely smaller than the Note 5 overall dimensions:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/co...ce_to_play_with_the_priv_my/cvtktrn?context=3

That's absolutely a plus for me. But, that could just mean that it's closer to the Note 3 footprint (but less thick and slightly less wide). I could deal with that too, but hoping it's closer to the G3 and worst case G4.

So I'm not very happy with the Note 5 specs.
No SD. Non removable Battery and smaller than my Note 3. An NO 128gig available??? 64 will not do.

This sucks.

I need the S-Pen. Apart from fine control I also hand write on my Note all the time. I also regularly have the 128Gb MicroSD pretty much full on my Note and I'm toying with a 200Gb SanDisk. Maybe a 256Gb when available. It goes without saying the 32Gb on the phone is pretty much all used all the time anyway.

So S-Pen AND MicroSD memory slot?

I guess I need to stockpile older Notes? :(

Use Squid (formerly Papyrus). I use it daily. Including for that grocery list - but also a host of other quick scribbled note occasions. The interface is perfect. http://squidnotes.com

I'm bereft. With the bolting down of the casing and the non-expandibility of the memory - seems like the Note series just died. If someone wanted something as dumbed down as an iPhone, they'd buy one.

Yeah, I was really looking forward to the 5, too. Especially when there were rumors that the microSD slot could have been brought back via a dual purpose SIM/microSD. I would have, without a doubt, purchased a 128gb version, if the microSD slot were there. Even sacrificing the battery would've been worth it for me, simply because the overall dimensions (aside form height) are smaller than the Note 3.

The one thing that has me in a bind is, I've become so reliant on the S-pen, that I know it's going to be a difficult adjustment for me, once I've decided on what my next device will be. Unfortunately, my Note 3 is giving me signs that it's close to upgrade time. The PRIV is looking like the device I'll be getting, off contract, but it might just be a stop gap until there's a device that truly matches what I've been able to accomplish with the Note series.

That said, after getting a Note 10.1 (2k14) for a very good price, off ebay, I think that'll keep me from having significant withdrawals when it comes to not having a phone with a S-pen.

I can make a good stab at editing a picture with an S-pen. Or drawing. I'm not trying either jabbing my fat finger at a phone. But there's really no point with a trivial memory budget. :(

Looking at the videos of the v10, it's actually a phone I'd consider now. The 2nd display isn't as gimmicky as I thought. Thing is, Sprint's not buying it, so it's not an option. And apparently, there's rumors that one of the reasons Sprint didn't buy it was due to recent screen issues that Sprint versions of the LG G4 have been having? It's just rumor, from a sprint message board I read, but the more stuff like this I hear about, the closer I am to jumping ship.

Although it's just a blog and mostly opinion, I love the thought of a Microsoft Surface phone, running a customized version of Android. Although the concept was shot down a few years ago (of a dual boot Android/PC laptop), I wonder if Microsoft will soften its stance enough, where they'd do a dual boot Surface Phone (e.g. when using mobile, one would have Android OS, but when connected to a dock, Windows 10 Continuum would turn it into Windows 10 PC). All pipedream and conceptual, but that would actually be my "ideal" scenario. I wanted to get one of the announced Samsung dual-boot laptops, prior to Microsoft putting the stop to it. I'd love it if Microsoft and Google collaborated to make that happen on a phone.

Finally, someone posted dimensions on the Blackberry Priv

http://phandroid.com/2015/10/16/blackberry-priv-hands-on-preorder/

http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/phones/blackberry-priv/upgrade?tariffNetworks=O2&colourCode=BLACK

Here are some comparisons with other 5.5-5.7 inch phones
Blackberry PRIV
147 (184 opened) x 77.2 x 9.4 mm

LG G3
146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm

LG G4
148.9 x 76.1 x 9.8 mm

Galaxy Note 3
151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm

Galaxy Note 4
153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm

Galaxy Note Edge
151.3 x 82.4 x 8.3 mm

Galaxy Note 5
153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm

Sony Xperia z5 Premium
154.4 x 76 x 7.8 mm

Nexus 5x (5.2 screen)
147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm

What I'm liking already is that, it's smaller than the Note 3 and Note 4, overall, when closed. I expected it to be slightly thicker, but the width is close to the G4, so that's fine with me. I don't know what the reviews are talking about, when saying that it's not a "one handed phone," but when closed, those dimensions tell me it can easily be managed with one hand. I can manage my Note 3 with one hand, so the Priv shouldn't be a problem at all. I can understand that it wouldn't be a one-handed device when the keyboard is open, but I'd imagine that people would want to use both hands on the keyboard.

I didn't bother putting up the Nexus 6p or the iPhone 6s Plus because they're significantly taller devices.

Man, phone arena has the screen comparison for the Priv up now and it's smaller than the LG G4 and very close in dimensions to the G3! This definitley would've been my phone upgrade of choice, if they made a CDMA version for Sprint. Oh well, if they don't do it (or just take too long to release), then I'll just hold out until the 2016 phones.
