So it's been 2 months.......

.......since I've became a proud owner of my Motorola Droid X, and I gotta say, I love it. Very glad I made the decision! First off, a little background, I did ALOT of research into phones before I made this decision. I was with U.S. Cellular for 2 years because that's the most reliable service in my hometown in southeast Oklahoma. I went through MANY phones on that contract, so many I really can't remember them all. I had a Moto SLVR (loved it), Moto Razr (loved it), BB Curve (liked it alot), some samsung touchscreen POS (loathed it), Moto Hint (loved it), and 2 or 3 more. Notice the trend? Anyway, alot of factors went into me deciding to switch carriers after my contract was up with U.S. Cellular. Decided to switch to either AT&T or Verizon, then went into researching phones. Finally decided on Verizon, because it has the best service in the area that i traveled to, to go to work for 2 years! Worked out great! And then decided on the Droid X as mentioned above. To me, it was the perfect marriage! The day I went to Verizon, my mind was made up, and there was NO changing it. The folks at the store sure tried their damnedest though! I wasn't having it. But for some reason, there are ALOT of people who are down on this phone, I just don't get it. This phone hasn't "changed my life", "saved my life", or any other such nonsense. But, it sure comes in handy in moments of boredom. Waiting in the Dr.'s office, breaks at work, driving from Oklahoma to Mississippi using the free GPS, all helped along by my Droid X. It's a nifty little phone that I am proud to own, when i trek back to Oklahoma for funerals, or graduations, and the like, my family gawk at it and drool, cause U.S. Cellular has nothing even close to this caliber of phone really. I like that!!!! The screen is awesome to browse the internet on, Gun Bros. is a joy to play, the keyboard is great for a touchscreen, i could go and on and on..... but you get the hint! The funny thing is, when I go back home to southeast Oklahoma, i can't use 3g, but that's ok, I have wi-fi for that! Let's see, I'm still running stock launcher, I have about 50 different backgrounds for it, I have a handful of free apps on it, and it's just fine for what I need. Ionno, guess I just wanted to praise my experience to people who would understand it. My girl just doesn't "get" it. It's a very versatile device, and I enjoy it. And I've apparently only really scratched the surface. I keep seeing that it's rapidly being outdated by other phones, and that's fine. I'm content, and actually happy that I get to spend 22 more months with this phone!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I also recently switched to Verizon and the Droix X. Lots to love! But the best thing? Really and truly!?! This forum! All the folks here are the greatest!

isn't that the truth. this forum IS great. i lurked here for a while, picking up tips and tricks, then started reading more and more, and saw that this is really a helpful community, that i DID want to be a part of. you see alot of nasty people in forums, but not SO much in this one. so naturally, i joined and started asking questions here and there, and got helpful, thought out, well worded answers, some that even included links to guides and such. and hopefully one day i'll be at the point to give advice, be it trouble shooting, root help, and the like. but yes, this forum is really a blessing to noobs, new to the android scene, myself included.

Not trying to be conceited haha but yes they are. I've done so much just by reading through this forum and I too love the x even if it I can only root on gingerbread.

I made the switch from the LG Ally. I had rooted it and flashed to Froyo and custom ROM's from the Velocity team and Deathtoall over in the Ally section here on this forum. The Ally is an awesome little phone and the devs over in the Ally section are amazing. The only bad thing about the Ally was that I really needed something with a bigger screen. I needed a mobile office that I could see and navigate easily. The Droid X never interested me because I knew it didn't have a physical keyboard and that was important to me. Until... I went in to my local Verizon store check out the Droid 2's. I saw this gorgeous thing and went over to see what it was. I flat out fell smack in love with it! Somehow the screen size made me forget all about how much I needed a physical keyboard and would never buy a phone that didn't have one! I wasn't due for an upgrade but I knew I had to have this phone. I bought one off Ebay for $250.00. Lucky for me I have a very understanding husband where my electronics are concerned. He buys boats, I buy phones. LOL. The first thing I did to my Droid X was to flash the Gingerbread update on it. It's the Gingerbread release a few days ago that everyone though was the OTA rollout but apparently wasn't, but you could still download the leaked official Gingerbread update. Of course I couldn't resist! I had no trouble updating to Gingerbread and now my DX is even more amazing! I think I'm done buying phones now.....for a while. :D

Welcome to Android. Enjoy your ride!! I still am learning! I love it! Also: welcome to one of the best communities that I know that is around! If you have a problem, just drop by here. I can bet you will have 1, 2, maybe even 3 people responding, depending upon the hour. I don't even own the phone anymore and I post in here more than I do in the Thunderbolt forums, just because I like these guys!
