So long, Triumph

Prinny

Resident Linux Nutcase
Well, I'm done with the Triumph. It was a great phone, but after all the crap and replacements, and VM replacing it, and it saying not compatible with Windows 7...Random reboots, service failure, antenna dying, screen not working right...I went to Best Buy, and got the Optimus Elite. Sure I have a slightly smaller screen (3.5 vs 4.0) but they both strangely enough have the same processor. So I'm not complaining. Man, its a shame the triumph fails with hardware at times. It has such potential :( C'est la vie.

I thought the Optimus Elite had an 800MHz processor, as opposed to the Triumph's 1Ghz? Anyways, enjoy your new phone! Hopefully you won't experience the same problems as you did with the Triumph.

So did I. However after running a few benchmarks, they all point to 1024ghz :D

i believe they both have the same chip its just the triumph is clocked at 1ghz and the elite is clock at 800mhz. and man u been through some problems lol. i had my phone for a long time now and maybe i got a phone from the good batch but my phone is good not having antenna, screen gps or anything. when i run to many apps and my memory get low it would reboot but thats nothing.

See mine would reboot randomly. A lot though. If it were once in a while no big deal. But this did it once or twice an hour o.o my first one had no issues! Until I dropped it

my Triumph just developed the dreaded "micro USB charging port" problem i was planning on dropping service and using it as an android mp3 player but that's screwed now too

I switched to an Optimus elite temporarily until I can get my hands on and Evo v 4g. The elite is so much better than the triumph it's ridiculous. They advertised the phone being 800mhz but when you benchmark it, it's actually 1024 MHz.

so I read 800MHz on the virgin site and assumed the cpu was of the 76/72xx variety (1st gen snapdragon, with a crappy adreno gpu.)

turns out it actually IS the S2 snapdragon.

of course, if they are LISTING the specs as 800MHz, that can only mean that the phone is being shipped with extremely low end binned silicon that isnt capable of high speeds.

that theory also backs up the price of the phone.

either way, i was SERIOUSLY considering the elite for awhile becuase i think it looks very nice, like an iPhone 3Gs. its not a bad design at all. the downsides were the small screen and resolution. I use my phone as a heavy media consuming device and if i dont enjoy looking at what im looking at, i cant justify owning it.

i would fully recommend it to anyone looking for a decent smartphone though, the price IS right.

i have to go with the evo v, which im picking up on thursday at my local radioshack actually :D

ill be honest though i kind of feel bad selling my triumph.

in the last few months its given me absolutely NONE of the horrible awful problems i hear so much. reception is awesome, data speeds are 1-3Mb, screen isnt blue, always connects to every PC, camera has no green blob. no lag, no reboots, always performed flawlessly (on cm7 or miui)

whoever buys it from me is getting a very nice gloss black TPU case, 3 batteries and the original box and manuals in perfect condition.

I've had no problems with mine either(keping mine, BTW) , can't seem to figure how others do. guess it's all in what you use it for?

Mine also started working better now that I've replaced it. I used to get little to no data at home, I was streaming music in the garage today, and ran a speed test to the tune of 1.2mbps. Of course right when I pulled the trigger to replace it, it had zero voice service at home and was really tempting me to hurl it into the woods.

I have my moto triumph set up with the latest CM7 Rom. It really works perfect. I've set it up just the way I like it. (apps, and home pages.) I am giving it to my grandaughter when I get my Evo.
My question is will we be able to activate it to replace her VM phone (online) without returning it to stock rom, etc. I believe all they ask is for the numbers. I really would hate to change it back to stock and then change it again to the good setup.

Thanks for the help.

It has to be on stock to activate.

what happens if you try to activate the way it is, when you do it on line ?

you HAVE to run the activate app on the phone or it won't activate fully... meaning it can't be used. You can just flash a stock rom run it and flash back to cm7.
