Whats the best way to get some movies on the Atrix? I will be on vacation in mid March and I want to be able to stream movies via HDMI cable to my flat screen in my hotel? Any ideas?

There are lots of sites you can stream movies from. Some pirated, some legit. Just stream through your browser.

Youtube has lots of movies (mostly older movies), you just have to search.

Plex to stream movies/tv shows from your pc
playon to stream netflix/hulu, etc

not sure if they work with the hdmi cable, probably not, until hdmi mirroring is enabled

Slingbox or Sling adapter (DishNetwork users).

;)

Actually Netflix "streaming" should work in "webtop" mode.

And these are "whole" movies, the entire thing? (youtube) I did not know that.

What are these "other" sites (some legit some not legit) that have movies, or if you can't say ... what sort of thing would one search for to find said sites?

Hmm I was in Att today and saw the Blockbuster app installed on the display model. Is it just not working but there?

it works (sort of) takes you to a screen that says come back in 2 weeks and you get 2 free movie downloads, thanks for your patience.

Yea full movies on youtube. They'll probably be broken up in 10 minute segments but all the links will be in the descrption. The best way to search on youtube is to include the "year" and type "part 1" with the name of the movie. For example "Bad Boys 1983 part 1"

Can't really say without breaking forum rules. Your best bet is to just google. For example, if you want to watch the movie Avatar .... "stream Avatar online", "watch Avatar online" etc

Pretty sure Netflix is not coming to any Tegra 2 devices though I could be wrong. So far only Qualcomm powered devices are being supported due to their DRM support.

No idea I have never rooted a phone.

There is a section here on rooting and there should be a section over at XDA forums as well but i always tell people RESEARCH RESEARCH AND ONE LAST TIME RESEARCH if its your first time rooting and read it til you understand and know the consequences

FYI, Amazon has streaming movies/TV now, and if you happen to be a Prime customer (we are), it's free. A few reports indicate the Flash based video front end works on Android devices. I haven't tried it yet, but when I do, I'll report back!

I tried it and it works. I wish the movies were more recent but it's still a nice feature.

And how does one become a "PRIME CUSTOMER" at Amazon.com?

I think it's $79 a year and you get free 2 day shipping on most purchases. It's a pretty good deal if you order a lot of stuff from Amazon like I do.

BTW - you get a 1 month free trial with all the perks. If you don't like it, just discontinue your prime membership. It's a win-win situation.

Good deal, I could do the trial membership for March and that would cover my vacation.

Thanks for the heads up!

Just a note, PLAYON does not work with NETFLIX. Netflix Play Now (streaming) only works with Silverlight. However, Hulu does work quite well.

For those that aren't familiar with it, Playon runs from your PC and streams channels to your phone. Needs wifi as they need to be connected to the same network.
