Would it be on the Motorola website? Or somewhere else?

Where must I be looking?! I haven't seen anything about an announcement anywhere.

My question is ... was there ever anything official from VZW/Moto that said they would make an announcement today?

Honestly they kinda did with added LTE Coverage etc. lol ... I know I know, not what we are looking for ...
 
More importantly, was anything ever stated / written that hte announcement would be about the Bionic?

^^^^ - in direct contradiction to whether they said they would not....
 
For what it's worth, I have my mind set for ~September 8th. If it comes out by then or on that day, awesome, Im gonna get it. If it's not, Im gonna have to look for something else. I have a Blackberry Storm 2 right now with a cracked screen from top to bottom (still works though) with the 3rd battery in it now that will die within me taking the phone off the charger for more than 2 minutes.

Needless to say, I need a phone. I've been waiting for the Bionic for a long time now, but its got to be time here soon.

September 8 it is. Don't believe me? Just wait and see :P
 
I'm really hoping it's September 8th. I'll be in store launch day buying one for sure. Hell, I may even leave work early (well, early for me is "on time" at 5:30 PM)...

You mean every day that Verizon doesn't have an "official" announcement, they need to announce (officially of course) "There will be no announcements today".

Is that what you're asking?

Isn't fun the best thing to have?
 
If we go by VZW usual over secret MO, they will announce within about a week from the point your can actually buy them in their corporate stores and Best Buy.

I'm gonna get it drop day if it comes before 30 September. However, as stated previously, I am not going to get it from a store - I have had great success with my phone that I got by ordering it online from VZW CS - it was a brand new phone, not one that haad been played with in hte stores, and thus had issues like loose sliders and such. IOW, it worked for me before, so I'm going to do it again.

I can seriously wait for a day extra to get my phone, so long as I know that it is a brand new, un-handled, un-ogled, un-touched phone.

What? what kind of crappy experience have you had?

Once I decide on a phone in the store, they give me one in a new box, with a strip of film over the screen and back, proving that no other customers have played with it or loosened any slider.

When we got my wife's iPhone, I insisted they just give it to me in the box and not open it to activate it, and they did it with no problem.
 
Numerous folks who got the DROID on drop day were complaining in these forums within 3 days that the slider was very loose. I made the not-so-obvious conclusion that they were sold the very units that the Store personnel were demonstrating the week before it went on sale (IIRC, the phone was in their hands as of 29 October 2009).

The posts are very old now, but I can dig them up for ya.

Also, I'd estimate that better than 75% of people who had issues with the first phone they bought were folks who bought them in the store, versus those that bough them online. I may be off base, but I've been in these forums since ~28 October, and I also joined the official Motorola forums, and was invited to the private panel that was developed for testing fixes for the microphone problem exhibited by some (maybe even a lot) of DROIDs during phone calls.
