Help ...so what the hell just happened?!?

ALL I did was switch out my phone's battery which was down to 5% for my spare that I had on the charger (fully charged). I have done this countless times before, without incident. I fired my (never rooted) phone back up, as usual, and what the hell?!? Over HALF of my apps force close upon trying to access them, including Gesture Search and App Brain, some apps are gone altogether like they were never even there (ShapeWriter Keyboard, for example, and some games). 90% of my downloaded ringtones are gone and none of my widgets will load. I can't believe it. I've done a few battery pulls and restarts but to no avail. I've switched it back to the other battery, but the same thing happens. Nothing like this has ever happened before; my phone had been working flawlessly since release day last April.

Any input or insight as to what in the world is going on would be tremendously appreciated! Much thanks in advance!

Yup, I'm screwed. :(

I called Verizon and they said there's nothing that can be done except to do a reset. Sucks, but - oh well!

Did you turn the phone off when switching batteries or just pull it? If you just pull the battery you will always run the risk of losing data because the memory doesn't have time to unmount/shut down properly.

I turned it off, like always, but I'm pretty sure that I accidentally hit the power button (while taking the back cover off) a split-second before removing the dead battery. At the time, I remember thinking, "I hope that won't cause any problems," but it sure appears that it might have.

Upon reloading all my apps, I'm a bit ticked off to find that some of the apps that I paid for are now no longer available in the Market. Bummer. :(

Maybe try and unmount your sdcard, turn phone off, insert the battery, let the phone run its paces and then remount. Worth a shot.....

For what it's worth, I also got my dinc last April and I have switched my battery out many times. I usually have it powered up with the display on. I haven't had any issues . . .yet.
