Im running Gingerbread right now, via the CM nightly ROM. Everything works flawlessly with the exception of some minor kinks

But the dev's are extremely active, and will be working it all out quickly i am sure

It's nightly builds. It's a late beta, or release candidate zero, as they call it. Each build has it's own issues. I'm running #12 right now and I've only seen two things I don't like; lack of percentage option for battery icon, and minimum clock speed is 245mhz (as opposed to the 128 option in 6.1.0).
