Soak test

2.3.4 (198_6 official and 198_7 leak) has some Wireless N issues that seems to be tied to certain routers (Belkin N being one). It fails to maintain a connection in some cases. I know they were working on 2.3.5 for some time and this MAY be a 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 test. I sure hope so or at least fixed wifi drivers for 2.3.4. We will see.

No wonder!...LOL...I was probably one of the people that called in about this issue. Thing is, when I called Sprint tech support, they actually managed to get it to work properly. One of the other things I did that seemed to fix the issue was playing around with the advanced wifi settings (although, I don't know if those I'm not sure if those advanced settings are just for "hot spot" use).

Nontheless, if that is the case, then hopefully that'll fix the issue of my wifi signal at home being so weak at one end of my house, compared to the other devices that connect in the same part of the house.

Full functionality w/the LAPDOCK 500 would be nice as well, but,my guess is that the jump from WEBTOP 1.2 > 2.0 would be more like an upgrade than an update.

I'd settle for the WI-FI enhancements & some audio for the LAPDOCK 500-PHOTON combo @ this time.

ohhhh so its not just me (or my phone) that has wifi issues....

Thats great news....

i been wondering about it

Any idea on when they'll announce tester selection? I'm dying to know if I made the cut!!

I don't recall their ever having an "announcement." It was always just a matter of the update being pushed to the phone and being seen as an "update," just like the official update would. Difference is it would be the beta testing, prior to the "official" release.

Nope. Not just you. It never really bothered me that much because the signal strength picking up wifi was strong in other rooms in the house. I just thought that I had to figure out the best way to repeat the signal on that specific side of my house (been experimenting with different ways and all of them not necessarily working how I've wanted).

Hopefully, if this update is connected to the wifi connection issue, I'll see a noticeable difference. I remember when I first got my Photon, the wifi signal was WAY stronger than my EVO. I don't even recall when it flip-flopped because the EVO signal is much stronger than my MoPho now.

I got an email invite to sign up for the soak test this weekend, but I opted out this time because I didn't want to unroot my phone.

well i filled out the survey and said i should make it....

but didnt get an email back:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Me too. I haven't received an email back either. If it doesn't come through anytime soon, then I figure they already have the 1000 (or whatever the number was) people to do the soak test.

ill check that site....

but i was under the impression it was coming out over the weekend....

so we will see

Unless you are feeling brave or really want to help out Moto, don't do it. The latest soak test broke unlock. The latest soak also breaks the ability to downgrade. In other words if it breaks something or you don't like it you are stuck.

It COMPLETELY bricked my phone. Stay away.

Now I'm extra glad I opted out. I'll wait and see how the rollout goes (and how quickly the devs manage to get root back) before I accept it. Learned my lesson the hard way with the Evo, not doing that again!

No comment, other than if there were a soak test going on right now, I would be glad that I wouldn't have installed the update. ;)
