Root **Soft Bricked EVO 4G LTE

C120Bound

Lurker
Soft Bricked my Evo 4G LTE while trying to install CM 10.1. It wouldn't get past the Boot animation screen. Tried to flash another Rom thinking that was the issue and now am attempting to run a RUU but can't find the right jewel version. I can boot into recovery (TWRP) and my bootloader obviously works heres what is on my HBOOT screen:

Tampered
Unlocked
Jewel PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBoot-1.19.0000
Radio-1.12.11.0809
OpenDSP-V29.1.0.45.0622
eMMC-boot

PLEASE HELP. HAVING A BABY SOON AND HAVING A CELL PHONE WOULD BE IDEAL. MUCH APPRECIATES

Your phone is still S-on, so you'll need to flash the kernel separately through fastboot.

Use this guide to flash the kernel while you're S-on: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/606748-how-install-kernels-h-boot-1-15-a.html

Hopefully this will get you straightened out. :)

yep like granite mentioned you need to flash the kernel separate and it is different from your typical flash of a kernel.

why are you still s-on? we have full s-off now that is pretty simple.....moonshine works like a charm.....but that is up to you.

and one last thing.......the term "soft brick" needs to go. the phone is either bricked or it is not. bricking a phone is pretty hard to do really and there is just no such thing a "soft brick". just remember that as long as you have recovery then your phone is not bricked.

and one more last thing(LOL), make sure that you have a nandroid backup to fall back on and you will always be in great shape;)
