Soft buttons not working.. factory reset didn't work

The softbuttons on my wife's HTC INC 2 have stopped working. She hasn't installed new apps and fully stock.

Tried several soft resets to no avail. Factory reset doesn't work.

Any options? Are there any ROMS that do not rely on the soft keys to navigate the phone?

If you've already tried a factory reset, I'd say it's time to give Verizon a call and see about a replacement device. If you're still under warranty that is.

Are they not visible, or visible but not working?

Did you try changing the brightness settings?

The buttons are visible but nothing happens when they are touched.
However this morning they are working, after another set of soft resets. Not sure if it working is a perm or short term fix though. Any way to use the phone without the softkeys?

I've pulled the battery a few times but no luck. What's strange is they do light up and work sometimes but no rhyme or reason when

Try rooting the phone and install a different rom. It might work...

I think you're out of luck. Sounds to me like a hardware issue.
