Help Soft Keyboard Buggy?

I was typing a text message today and I got an error message saying that the (keypad) program had to shut down due to an error (I can't remember exactly what it said). It shut down and afterwards I tried writing the text again but I couldn't see anything that I was typing the message was just blank. after messing about with it a bit I turned the handset off and on and it sorted itself out but it's a bit annoying I had to do this, is this a common error and is there a work around?

Never seen this myself, if it's only happened once I wouldn't worry about it too much, but to be honest I use Smart Keyboard pro it's much better than the stock keyboard, especially for T9..
