Soft Keys Not Lighting Up

My issue is the soft keys don't light up most of the time. Are there settings for these? Does anyone know if there if anyone else having this issue?

Yes, you are correct. I noticed that only last night when I was in bed using the phone.

As far as I can tell, they light up when the phone is awake and the light sensor detects that it's dark.
