Root softbrick admire

I recently rooted my samsung admire phone and like anybody began to uninstall useless bloatware, but then I deleted the launcher I had and soft bricked. To make things worse I deleted my sdcard by accident, so now I'm guessing that the phone isn't rooted anymore. Ive looked all over the internet and found A stock .apk and .odex compressed file with everything on it, but its from a rooted phone. My question to those experts out there is will this file work and is there a way possible to un-brick my phone and install an OS if needed.

Also I know about ODIN and recovery/download mode, but am having trouble installing drivers because of the UAC on my pc (windows 7 home premium)

Any help or pointers will be greatly appreciated....:D

If you disable UAC prior to attempting the driver installation there should be no issue-just enable them again when you are done.
Using ODIN is probably your best best to correct the phone. The stock can be found on the ACS site as well.

See thats the problem i havent the slightest idea what this UAC password is. Is there a way to remove the UAC, then create a new UAC password

yea i flashed recovery like a hundred times but im only able to get to the unlock screen then the screen goes dark because my OS system is damaged. Seems like my only way is to use ODIN but the UAC is getting in my way.

If its not your computer you would have to ask the owner what the password is-if they want to give it to you:)

Ok.
If you deleted your launcher.apk thats an easy fix. ur OS isnt damaged, it just doesnt have a home launcher.
You need to push a new launcher using adb. Heres how (I assume your OS is stock and Odexed?)

1.) Download the launcher2.apk and Launcher2.odex files I provided below and save to your sdcard.
2.) Boot into CWM (Vol.down+back+power)
3.) Open up a command prompt
4.) Navigate to your adb folder, then type the following:
Code:
adb shell
su
cat /sdcard/Launcher2.apk > /system/app/Launcher2.apk
cat /sdcard/Launcher2.odex > /system/app/Launcher2.odex
chmod 0755 /system/app/Launcher2.apk
chmod 0755 /system/app/Launcher2.odex
reboot

You should now have your launcher back.

Launcher2.odex

Launcher2.apk

That seems like it would work but I have some questions.. 1. You say boot into CWM I dont have that just the android system recovery, need i remind you i didnt download rom manager just titanium backup, and I cant use odin to flash it on because it wont recognize my phone in download mode. 2. Im not sure if i have adb, and if i didnt i couldnt install it because of the UAC prompt asking for a password. 3. Dont you have to be rooted and have usb debugging mode on cuz if so I cant use adb at all on account of not being rooted and being unable to active usb debugging mode

You said you were rooted in your OP
I recently rooted my samsung admire phone
I was wondering how you acheived that as you said UAC was a problem(different computer:confused:)
ROM Manager wouldn't be used anyway as it would brick your phone.
Just a few things to consider:

  • Unless you have a computer where you have full access-you are limited as to what can be tried to restore your phone.
  • Make sure you are using the USB cord that came with your phone-It matters.
  • Erasing the SD doesn't remove root.
Wish I could help you more but:(

The funny thing is I rooted the admire using the same computer lol. The UAC must have been activated by someone after I rooted my phone. I did forget to mention that I did a wipe data/ factory reset and wipe cache partition using the android system recovery when I wanted to remove the bootloop. It worked, but it still needs those launcher files. I'm assuming this removed the root which is why I mentioned not being rooted.

When I mentioned ROM Manager its only because when u said boot using CWM I thought about how you could through ROM Manager after installing and selecting reboot into recovery.

As you said that you cannot go pass the lock screen, the best way now is that install mobogenie or mobile Go in your computers(they are android managers)Then connect your phone it will automatically install its app to your device. Then download any launcher like nova or apex then install it through the android manager. Then restart your device and it will ask to choose the launcher you like choose the one you just installed.I am saying this cause I have the same problem of you but I deleted Launcher2.odex :p
