Root Software downgrade from 3.16.651.3 Hboot 2.09.0000

I was wondering if there's a way to downgrade my Evo 4G LTE's stock software version from 3.16.651.3 to an earlier version? I'm asking because it seems that I am STILL occasionally having problems with WiFi tether with this version, and I have to basically do a factory restore to get it to work again. I have read other people have been seeming to be having the exact same issue with tethering with this software version. If there's any way to downgrade to an earlier version, someone PLEASE let me know! This is driving me insane & I'm too young to be getting grey hair! I'm starting to look like Mr. Fantastic with grey sideburns & ish from this stress & aggravation!!! haha I'm Hboot 2.09.0000 software version 3.16.651.3 S-On. Thanks for any help!

software version is easy to switch. all you need to do is flash a rom that has a different ota base. we have the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/614073-list-utilities-roms-kernels.html, just pick one from there.

i was going to say "why don't you try an aosp roms", but you are s-on so you can't..... and i'm not too sure if earlier roms will have issues with your touch panel....and being s-on you can't downgrade it.

to be honest it will help if you are s-off that way you have no issues with flashing roms or even downgrade your firmware, but that is up to you.

well these are the only two ways to get s-off:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...g-dummies-guide-racun-babyracun-unlocked.html

or:

facepalm for some folks have been hit or miss. however, dirtyracun is not that bad. you just need to look into getting a live cd of ubuntu.

Do you have any idea why I kept getting stuck at the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen when flashing the stock rooted rom? It was sitting there for 2 hours...

what are you wiping before flashing the rom? you need to wipe dalvik cache, cache, factory reset(data), and system before you flash a rom.

also it could be a bad download as well.

and lastly what rom are you flashing? if you have the latest firmware, some of the older roms might not work with the latest touch panel(not that is the reason why it will not boot up though).

It was the stock rooted 3.16.651.3 rom that I linked the thread for. I'm running Hboot 2.09.0000 and 3.16.651.3 software. Everything is stock and twrp 2.4.1 I think. I did the dalvik cache, cache, attempted factory reset & it failed, then system wipes before attempting to flash. Then it would start flashing & it started extracting the files and reboot. It would stay stuck at the htc quietly brilliant screen, so I rebooted to recovery & luckily still had the MeanBean folder on my computer, because i didn't have an OS any longer & my SD card wasn't reading, nor was the internal. I managed to get them to read again after another reboot to bootloader.

I'm guessing it's probably that it was a bad download because the files were both 600 mb, and the one I'm downloading right now that seems to be the same type of file is 613 mb. Once it finishes I'll try flashing it & doing all of the wipes in the order you specified & see how that works. Just curious, why do they HAVE to be wiped in that order? Or does the order not matter, as long as the caches get wiped first, then factory reset, then system wipe?

order does not matter.....lol it is just how i'm used to doing it. it does make sense to do it in that order, but it is not necessary.

Ok. Thanks for the tip! I will do it that way once this file finishes downloading. I'm using PDANet to download since the only internet access here at work is the state park system's WiFi, so this may take AWHILE, and they block anything regarding downloading. Hell, they have YouTube blocked as a porn site...lmao
